Putting, Chipping & Games Mat Instructions

Thank you for Purchasing our Putting & Chipping mat we appreciate your support and welcome you as a customer. Roll out your mat and you are ready to Practice Putting or Chipping or Play Challenging Games.

The Putt2Win mat is designed to be used in both directions up and down with various targets to aim for on the mat and at both ends. Small orange circles are printed in various locations on the mat which represent Tee Spots to Putt the ball from when practicing putting or playing the various putting games.

Mini Mat

The mini mat can be used alongside the main putting mat so that your feet can comfortably rest at the same level as the ball so that you don’t have the issue of standing on the edge of the mat. The lines printed on the mat can be used to help you with your feet alignment.

Mini Mat

The mini mat is also used to chip off when you are using the mat for chipping practice or to play chipping games. The mat is designed for chip and runs with a wedge or short iron, a thicker mat with more cushion will work better if you want to practice lob shots with more lofted clubs etc.

Games

The Putt2Win mat has been expertly designed to provide 4 putting or chipping games that will challenge all players and improve your feel, focus and distance control to sharpen your short game skills the more you use the mat.

All of the games can be played by up to 4 players or can be played alone as practice, it’s always a good idea to record your score and monitor your progress as your short game improves in both your putting and chipping skills.

Each game should be played in the spirit of golf and players should be given a head start (a handicap) at the start of the game based on their ability and previous scoring to keep the games competitive.

Balls are removed from the mat once the score of the Putt or chip has been agreed on all games except Curling. You can choose to leave all balls in position until the end of the turn and award points based on the finishing position of each ball if you wish but be warned this will cause upset when a player’s ball is knocked out of a scoring position by an opponent!

Order of Play

The order players putt or chip can be agreed before the games start or you can decide the order of play by putting or chipping to the curling circles with the players ball closest to the centre circle going first, next closest going second and so on.

In this example Red would go first Yellow 2nd, Orange 3rd and Green would go last.

Levels

Each game has 2 levels of difficulty the level should be agreed before you play:

Amateur - Scoring is awarded if any part of the ball touches the target with the highest scoring zone touched counting.

Pro - Scoring is awarded based on the centre of the ball touching the target, players should stand directly above the ball to determine if the centre of the ball is resting on the target.

Note: The Pro level of play is significantly more difficult than Amateur.

Challenge Game

This game is played using one ball per player with players taking it in turns to choose the Tee Spot all players start from (position of the multi-mat if chipping) and the target they must all hit to earn points. Each turn for a player is 2 putts / chips one up the mat and the other down the mat. Each player should have the same number of chances to nominate the putt / chip and the game can be played over as many turns as you wish.
The resting position of the ball in relation to the target will determine whether the player has scored points, no points are awarded if the player misses the chosen target and the highest number of points at the end of the game wins.

Targets Playing up the Mat:

1. The Curling circles worth 1 to 5 points

2. The mini holes in the corner of the mat worth 5 points.

3. Any of the 5 black bars worth 1 to 3 points

Targets Playing down the Mat:

1. The hole & run through triangle worth 1 to 3 points

2. The mini holes in the corner of the mat worth 5 points.

Curling Game

This game is played using three balls per player, colour balls work well for this game or alternatively white balls can be used but will need to be marked or initialled so that each players balls can be identified for scoring.
Choose the area of the mat to putt from for example behind the one feet marker or place the mini mat in an appropriate area for all players to chip from. Decide the order of play and change the order after every round so that all players get a chance to play first and last. Player 1 putts or chips their first ball to the curling circle target, followed by player 2 with their 1st ball, continue playing in turn until every player has putt or chipped all 3 balls.
The objective of the game is to score as many points as possible by having as many of your 3 balls all resting on the curling circle as close to the centre as possible at the end of each round. All balls that have scored count for each player and the score of each ball is between 1 and 5 depending on the scoring circle the ball is resting in.
A key strategy of the game is to knock your opponent’s balls out of a scoring position and to block your opponents from rolling their balls into the centre of the target. The game can be played over as many rounds as you wish but players should have an equal number of opportunities to play first and last during the game.

Curling Example

In this Amateur scoring example the:
Red Balls score 3 x 1 = 3 points
Yellow Balls score 3 x 2 = 6 points
Orange Balls score 3 x 3 = 9 points
Green Balls score 3 x 5 = 15 points

Optional Play: Stand the target backstop on the floor beyond the mat and the curling circles. Any players that knock the backstop over with a ball are deducted 5 points, helps to encourage playing with an element of caution.

Killer Game

This game is played using one ball per player and the objective is to putt or chip the ball to come to rest on the 5 black bars, every time you miss a black bar you lose a life, players start with 5 lives and the last player with a life is the winner.
Choose the area of the mat to putt from for example behind the one feet marker or place the mini mat in an appropriate area for all players to chip from. Decide the order of play and keep to the order throughout the game. Players take it in turn to putt or chip to the black bars starting with the closest at 3.5 ft. Once all players have taken a turn they move on to the next closest black bar and after the 5th / furthest black bar at 7. 5 ft has been played they move back to the closest black bar at 3.5 ft.

During each turn the ball must come to rest on the black bar in play as shown in the image, if not the player will lose a life, once all 5 lives are lost the player is out of the game. The winner is the last player that has a life but to win they must land their ball on the black bar target that's in play, if they miss play moves on to the next black bar target and the players left in the game have the life they lost reinstated.

Angles Game

This game is played using one ball per player and the objective is to putt or chip the ball to come to rest on the hole or run through triangle worth between 1 to 3 points.

Decide the order of play and keep to the order throughout the game.

Players take it in turn to putt from the angled lines pointing at the target starting with the closest on the right at 3 ft and moving round the angled lines in a clockwise direction from 3 ft to 6 ft to 8ft. Once all players have taken a turn they move on to the next angled line and play is repeated until all 6 angle lines have been putted or chipped from, this counts as one round. Play can be over as many rounds as you wish, the player with the highest combined score is the winner.
The game can be played in the same manner when chipping the ball by placing the mini mat close to the angled line and chipping from the mini mat.
